For all of you taking AP BIO now, what book are you using? Cambell and Reese 7th edition?
if so what chapter are you guys on??

My class is up to 8, i feel we are moving incredibly slow, my school shouldnt even have AP classes, i have a bad feeling unless i start self studying soon.

i am not taking ap bio, but i’m familiar with the Campbell textbook. Since it has 50+ chapters, it does seem that you guys are moving very, very slowly if you are only on chapter 8 right now. If you want to score well on the AP, you might want to self study ahead of your class’s pace, since I have no idea how your teacher plans to cover the entire book if at midyear you are only at ch. 8.

Um, you should be quite a bit past chapter 8 by now.

I would really, really, really recommend you get the CliffsAP book for it. You could easily use it as the textbook – it’s much more concise, has all the right information, and will ensure that you do well on the exam. I wish I had to started using it long before the exam – it was extremely helpful.

My class uses Biology 7th Ed. Solomon Berg Martin and we are only on chap. 9 so… But I don’t think you will need to finish the WHOLE book to do well on the exam. kyledavid80 is right. Get Cliffs and study from there. If there is a section you need clarification on, go to the biology book. Reading 1000+ pages is crazy!

if you are only at ch. 8 - start self-studying now.
get something like CliffsAP and get going now –
(this will also help you understand material covered in class should they ever catch up to you)

I took AP Bio last year, and my teacher was really bad. We were on chapter 6 at this point (out of a 51 chapter book, although it wasn’t the Campbell one). I ended up reading the whole textbook in April because we’d still only covered about 12 chapters. You probably should either self-study or read Cliff’s.

I use campbell’s 7th edition and we’re up to chapter 19 now, we’re speeding up and are pretty much doing 4 chapters a week
I guess you should try self-studying or ask your teacher what is his/her plan

yep, my Assistant principal is really cool with me, he gave me the CLiffs Ap Bio book for me to take home and look at, its the “white and yellow” cover book right? with some black on it i guess.

if anyone is wondering chapter 8 on my book is thermodynamics, and trust me guys…she won a siemens award, but cant teach for Crap!!! I always have to “correct” her and i guess she gets a little irritated.

I’d also recommend the Study Guide to accompany Campbell’s - not too expensive on Amazon

Has a nice summary of all of the concepts and little figures that you can fill in to review - it’s a little heavier than Cliffs, but some extra preparation never hurts (cliffs just seems so simple that I worry I’ll do well on the AP test)

TapedDuck I also felt Cliffs was a little simple. Some information goes in depth. But some parts of it don’t. But it seems too simple sometimes. idk I guess i’ll have to see when I get my scores back!
