for all you current students, how hard is it to get an A in the general education, writing, and diversity classes. how do they grade the classes, and which classes the easiest?
thanks

It all depends on the category, class, professor, and TAs. In determining which classes/profs are the best to consider, you can check out www.senatecourseguide.com.

thanks
another question...for general ed, do you have to take one coures in each of the six categories plus writing plus "diversity" courses? or is it just one class from each of the six categories? thanks

never mind, i found the answer to that question, but what exactly are the diversity courses. also, does anyone know anything about thematic options?

The diversity courses are ANY course that has an "m" in the course number (such as HIST-200gm or SOCI-142gm). It doesn't have to be necessarily a GE course to meet the requirement, although it is nice to "kill two birds with one stone".

thanks. if i go to USC next year, i willl be exempt from two categories out of the six categories, but how do i know how many more diverstiy and writing courses i will have to take to get general ed over with?

One diversity and two writing courses are definitely required. The writing courses usually occur first semester freshman and junior year, unless you are in TO, where all of writing happens freshman year.

^^Generally, true, although I know a junior who will take the second TO writing course during his senior year. It doesn't have to be all in your freshman year, but it's nice to get rid of the writing stuff early on.
