OK, so my psyc teacher has said that...

(a) Your close freinds will be within three doors of yours on your floor freshman year.
(b) Roomates tend to be of similar height.

Does this fit you/people you know??

Haha that's so funny!
Not ALL my close friends are within three doors, but my closest friend is (although on the opposite side of the hallway) three doors down from me
And my roommate is about my height

(a) No. About half of them are at the other end of campus spread out over three floors. They were spread out at my first school, too, though almost all of them had the same major as me.

(b) I'm 5'9" and my roomie is 5'4". Just thinking about the girls on my hall, most are around average height which I suppose would make them similar. It's not like they were matched that way. They're just average height! LOL My roomie at my first school was 5'7ish which was closer.

a) No, most of my close friends are on the 4th floor of my dorm while I'm on the 3rd!
b) Also no, I'm definitely way shorter than several of my friends.

"Your close freinds will be within three doors of yours on your floor freshman year."

my close friends' dorms are 500 yards away from mine.

a.) my best friends freshman year lived off campus
b.) my roomie was about my height (5'8" ish)

Nope--never got to be good friends with any girls in my dorm freshman year. Am best friends with people met in clubs/classes.

Ha ha--nope. Living with one of my best friends in an apartment style dorm--She's 5'1" and I'm 5'10"

My best friends were in a different dorm, and my closest friends in my same dorm building were across the hall. The people within three doors of me-- we're on congenial terms, but we hardly ever talk just to talk as "friends." So that "your closest friends within three doors away" notion is a lot of bunk.

I'm really short 5'2, and all three of my roommates have been upwards of 5'7.

Your psyc teacher seems to feeding out a bunch of BS.

a)my best friends here live diagonally across the hallway from me (only 2 rooms away :) )
b)my 1st semester roomate was 4'11'' (i'm 5'4''), and my roomate this semester is 5'3''.

hmm....i guess i proved your prof right

1) eh, not really, however I know the theories she is speaking from and they tend to generally hold true (that relationships tend to form according to proximity and similarity as well as a few other factors); for me, one of my closer friends was a few doors down from me freshmen year, however several of my closest friends lived in another dorm on the top floor (including one who was in my Alpha group--which is related to proximity as well--as in we were in a small group together twice/wk). I really had friends who were all over the place, but the proximity rule still holds somewhat true

2) My roommates freshmen year were nothing like me physically, but I did not choose them, lol, so it doesn't really count. This year, my rooming situation didn't work out, so I can't speak from this year either!

a) my best friends all live on my floor, or at least did 1st semester

b) my roomie is about 2 inches taller than I am

a) Two of my close friends were in the room next door first semester (but are now down the hall since I'm in a different room). Another close friend was probably 5 doors down. However, I have a bunch of friends that are in dorms that are a 10-15 minute walk from mine
b) I had 3 roommmates initially. Two were fairly close in height to me, but one is significantly taller. I now have just one of those roommates in my new room, and she's probably half an inch shorter than me.

a) Pretty true, but then again, I go to a big state public school so meeting people outside of dorms/clubs is pretty hard. I'm only a freshman, though, so that may change in the coming years. My closest friends in college as of now do, in fact, live within 3 doors of my room.

b) Hahaha no. I'm 5'8" and my roommate is barely 5'. Pretty big difference, I'm sure. ;)

a. most of my good friends live on my floor, but not necessarily within 3 doors. Then again, my floor only has 14 doors (22 people) on it, so I don't think I'm less likely to be friends with people at the other end of my hall or anything.

b.) not freshman year (when we don't choose our roommates) but for next year, yes. We are all within an inch of each other, actually.

a) Most of my good friends live in the house, a good football field away from the dorms.

b) I'm 5'11, my other roomates are 6'1 and 5'4.

A) I don't think exactly 3 doors... One is one door and the other two are four doors
B) I am about 8 inches taller than my roommate

I agree with apumic, he/she is probably basing those tidbits on the heuristics of proximity and similarity... probably not always accurate, but over a huge amount of samples seems to hold true.

My freshman year i had 2 close friends, one was my roommate, the other a girl i knew growing up, she lived in another dormatory.

Our height's varried from me (5'5), rebeccah (5'8) , Rebeccah L (5'10) and Heidi (5'3)

(a) Your close freinds will be within three doors of yours on your floor freshman year.
well, within the same hall at least.

(b) Roomates tend to be of similar height.
i didn't have a roomie last year, this year she's a good 7 inches taller than me. lol that's SO random!

a) A few of my good friends live within 3 doors, but most are on the other side of campus.

b) I'm 5'8", my current roommate is 5'7", and my roommate for next year is 6'3".
