I have a friend that reads all the science related "for dummies books" and does incredibly well. For example, the summer before taking bio, he reads the entire biology for dummies book and gets a plaque for science league and aces the clas single handedly. He also gets a near perfect score for biology sat II. He did the same thing for chemistry and got the same results. Just recently he finished reading "Physics for dummies" in preparation for hon physics junior year...

What are your thoughts on the "for dummies" books? are they any good? should i read them in my free time....

I don't know... I might try it now, I've only read a "Piano For Dummies" and I didn't think it that good, but then again, it mostly taught how to read music, which I'd been doing for several years before.

if you read books about bio and chem during the summer for fun, then you have an innate affinity for the subjects :D no wonder that guy is a science ace. it's not BECAUSE of the books.

"For Dummies" are excellent for High School.
FOr anything beyond that, I normally find Schaum's Outlines better.
Of course, the best (and most boring) of all are textbooks...
