For engineering, which of these are better?

Hi I got accepted to Northwestern engineering regular decision…

I was wondeirng… for undeclared engineering, which schools should i choose out of this list? plz help me rank them in order thanks!

Northwestern, Duke, Columbia, WUSTL, Umich in Ann arbor, UCLA

thanks a lot! and if anyone can tell me anything about northwestern it would be greatly appreciated

Not sure about NW's engineering, but did you apply to Columbia SEAS?

In terms of reputation: Umich
In terms of prestige: Northwestern
The rest sucks :p

rtkysg, way harsh.

UCLA and Duke deserve more respect than that.

Just wondering benshen7...how were you already notified of your admission to NWU? I was under the impression that decisions were coming out mid-April?

[ol]
[]Michigan
[]Duke
[]UCLA
[]Columbia
[]Northwestern
[]WUStL

I would suggest ruling out any college you wouldn't attend if you weren't in engineering. Writes one industry newspaper, "According to most statistics, engineering schools graduate between one-third and one-half of the students who start out in engineering programs." http://www.eetimes.com/issue/fp/OEG20020712S0041

Next, if you are undecided, find out how hard it is to get into a specific major. Some popular ones, like EE, may be difficult to switch into at some schools.

rtkysg is pretty much correct, all are good schools, but u Mich is the best for engineering. NU, Columbia and Duke are tied for prestige.

northwestern and columbia are great for science

thanks for your opinion guys
ucsd_atw, im an international student so I got my admission through Fedex on monday.. decisions for students in the US are probably out very soon.. and thats why the NWU board isnt flooded with news about admissions yet

anyway, i know umich is a good school but im kinda surprised at how high you rate it.. but i guess thast because people at our school are shallow and are really concerned with reputation, rank, etc.

Northwestern or Duke if I were choosing... because I want the liberal arts environment surrounding my engineering school.

WUSTL -- don't know much about them.

That's not bad advice--and the statistic is interesting. However, I don't think those figures apply to the sorts of selective schools/programs being considered here.
