I'm having a real hard time right now deciding between USC or Clemson. I plan on majoring in English and Economics, but do y'all know which school has the better English undergraduate program?

Go to USC for English.

My roommate and a friend of mine are both English majors. If you were an English major at Clemson, you would be in the minority. I have a friend at Clemson who is an English major, but it wasn’t her first choice and she only went there because it was a state school and her family was a Clemson family.

I’m not really sure about rankings, but I have been told over and over again that USC has a better English program, even by Clemson students.

But if you love Clemson, then don’t let that stop you from going there. But if you love them equally, then go to Carolina. (Or whichever is cheaper if money is an issue.)

Definitely Carolina! Know someone who was English major at Clemson, but only because he changed major from engineering. Said if he had known that would be final major would not have picked Clemson. USC also has strong business school, but don’t know enough about Clemson’s econ dept to compare.

I’ve heard wonderful things about the English department at South Carolina - supposedly it’s underrated. I, too, applied as a hopeful English major, though OOS and as a transfer for fall 2012.

I’ve already been accepted to the University of Alabama (also OOS), but my top two choices are FSU and USC - Columbia. Now I play the waiting game.
