[For entering freshmen] New (optional, alternative) life science course now accepting applications

Hi folks,

On the off-chance that entering freshmen still lurk here, we’d like to share with you a new course option:

This fall, Harvard will launch LS 50: Integrated Science, an optional freshman life science curriculum offering early involvement in original research and incorporation of relevant concepts from math, physics, chemistry, and computer science. Students enroll in LS 50 for the equivalent of four semester-length courses (half of their freshman schedule) and receive an intensive introduction to the quantitative life sciences, programming, and wet lab procedures. The course will require a significant commitment of time and effort and is designed for students who are excited by the idea of a challenging and deeply rewarding immersion into science. Enrollment in Fall 2015 is limited to twenty-five students and requires an application due before classes begin. More details and the application are available online at http://www.ls50.net.

Apologies to those of you who receive multiple announcements about LS 50 (e.g. after completing the biology and chemistry and placement exams). We’re happy to answer any questions you may have – hope we meet some of you this fall!
