For god's sake, sorry I didn't apply to the ivies, doesn't ANYONE have an opinion?

I also got into mount holyoke and i'm leaning toward there now, any thoughts?

I'm sorry the title of the post offended you, I've had some very frustrating experiences with completely ignored posts and, unattractive as this was, it did get responses. That said, I realize it was obnoxious and apologize

i got into mhc, mills, and l&c too!

mhc and l&C have great ir programs. from what i heard, the two schools are beautiful.

where do you think you're going to go blah06?, where else did you get in?

"UPS is very "toney". It is in an area of high-hundred thousand/million dollar homes. You will need a car to go anywhere (preferably a beemer )."

Boy, did we have a different impression of UPS. Unless home prices have appreciated astronomically since I looked at UPS with my daughter three years ago, I would not characterize the area around the school as toney and expensive. We lived north of Seattle for six years a while ago and I would call Tacoma more working class than toney. The kids we met seemed to be pretty decent, not a bunch of spoiled, rich kids.

My daughter loves Seattle and the NW and wanted to find a school there that appealed to her interests (at the time English and Psychology at a smallish Liberal Arts College). She looked at UPS, Lewis and Clark, and Willamette Univ. She didn't feel she would fit in at Reed and didn't bother to visit.

She ended up at Kenyon and is now an English major. I think the fact that UPS was not that close to Seattle was for her a negative. Obviously, close proximity to a major city ended up not being a factor in her decision.

I agree with 2dsdad, the area around UPS was nice, but as someone who goes to school in a mansion in Pacific Heights, it certainly didn't seem to be particularly wealthy. If, on the other hand, that poster was referring to the students, which is certainly possible, I didn't really think that on my visit, but I might have missed something and I'd love to hear any other comments.

thewholeperson: i also got into: american university and in-state school.

i want to go to mhc, but i didn't really get a "nice" financial aid package. i'm waiting for au to send its financial aid package. other than that i'm planning to go to lewis & clark...if au's finaid isn't appealing.

i got a BAD financial aid package at mhc, but i heard on their livejournal community that if you call and say you aren't going because of the bad package they have a tendency to improve it. i figure it's worth a try.

I visited, applied, and got accepted to UPS and lewis and clark, but dont know anything about your other choices.

When I visited lewis and clark I got a biiiiig hippy vibe. The students walking around campus reminded me of most of the types of people I see at concerts (Im into jambands, so Im saying these people look like druggies). Im definitely down with the hippy scene, but even L&C was a bit much for me. I cant say for sure since I dont attend the school, but it really really seems like there would be a lot of pot smoked at L&C, moreso than a lot of other colleges.

I got very good financial aid at Lewis and Clark and Puget Sound making it less than a UC, about 10,000 less at Santa Clara and 20,000 less at Mount Holyoke
