what is your current application status on the rochester site?
how many of your guys' application status says that the first admissions counselor read ur app and is now being read by a 2nd counselor?

My son’s app status says that it is in the hands ofthe first reader.

My application is also in the hands of the 1st reader. :]

Mine says it is now being read by a second reader.

My application is in the hands of a second reviewer now.

Anxious… D:

Mid-year grades are not in yet for most applicants. Do you think this means that they basically make a decision on applications before getting the mid-year grade report?

they’ll probably use it. but im guessing that if ur 9th-11th grade are already good enough they can still make the decision of accepting students.

anyone else?

egad! My application is in committee review now. And I haven’t even had my interview yet (this weekend). And I want to turn in a family recommendation too…

I have an ominous feeling about my app going through so quickly.

My application is going through quickly, too! “93%” completed, in fact. I think it’s rather odd, though, that they gave me contact information for THE person who read my application. At this point, there’s not much I can do to make or break me, so why on earth would I want to give my reviewer a call?

most of the times the first reviewer is the admissions officer assigned to area/region you belong to.

Last year the U of R received approximately 13,000 applications from prospective students. When I was applying in 2005, the U of R was receiving 10,000 applications. Every year since then there has been an increase in the application numbers, and this year will be no exception!

Don’t fret about the speed at which your application goes through the readers. Realize that the Admissions Counselors have to get through 13,000 applications and they only have a few months to do it.

Best of luck to everyone applying! Be prepared to wait until April 1st to receive a decision. Your application will be in “Committee Review” on your MyRoc account until your letter is sealed and sent in the mail. Then, the final message will read something like “your decision is on its way!”

Hey my application is in the committee review process as well…I feel quite guilty considering that my friend who sent her’s in about a month early is still in the first reader step (I sent mine 2-3 days before the deadline), AND she had an interview (and I didn’t). Is this usually a good sign of being accepted?

Not really. How fast or slow your file progresses through the process has absolutely no bearing on whether or not you’ll be accepted.

It just means your file ended up on the top of the pile when it was divided up.

We did not send family recommendation (we missed the deadline, because we were on vacation when we got the e-mail about family recommendation).
I’m kind of worry about if this will effect his chance doe get in? Feel so guilty…

Send it anyway.

My MacFee filtered the e-mail to some subfolder in my In-Box before I realized it. So, I just sent it as soon as I could. It showed up on my son’s application within a week or so.

You have nothing to lose by sending it. I would even go so far as to recommend that you e-mail it to admissions, or even the Readers directly.

Very odd is that MyRoc shows that my midyear report is IN even tho I have not sent it yet…(My application is being read by the first reader, btw.) Is this their mistake or an indication that they will not need my midyear report at all???

If you’re sure your counseling office hasn’t sent your mid year report (at some schools it’s done automatically as soon as first semester grades are available), then call or email the admissions office and ask.

anyone else that ansered my question have their app moved to the next stage?
