If anyone else has other questions related specifically to life as a transfer at UC Berkeley, feel free to ask anything!

Did you ever do The Wonderful Wizarding World of Harry Potter decal? I hear it’s really popular and sounds fun. Have you taken any cool decals?

@engandlaw28 could you list some classes that you thought were great?

How easy is it to get weed at Berkeley? Because I’ve heard it’s pretty easy. :D

@ocnative My roommate last year took that decal. Initially they thought it was kinda cute/fun/silly, but by the end of the semester it was more work than she wanted to be doing and it kinda became “uggh I have other stuff I could/should be doing right now”. It looked like it was still a pretty fun class… they made wands, learned to play quidditch, baked cookies for extra house points, etc. So, you’ll have to put some effort into it, but I think most people enjoy it.

@ocnative - Great question! I never took the Harry Potter one but it’s def one of the popular ones. That and the Disney DeCal. There’s lots of fun ones like yoga or old film decals or community service-oriented decals etc. and it’s a great way to make friends in a more relaxed class setting, outside your major too. I did a service-oriented decal my first semester.

@hairlesscow - Sure thing! I took Psych 167AC (I think I mentioned it above), which is “Stigma and Prejudice”. It was outside my major and the first psych class I EVER took, and still one of my favorite classes. I also really liked Sociology 111 (Sociology of the Family) whcih was my first soc class. I also REALLY recommend Journalism C103 (“Edible Education” with Michael Pollan) all about the food industry. Huge class, very inspiring. And Poli Sci 10, which is a semester-long poli sci debate on current issues from well-known politicians, local groups/orgs, etc.

@cayton - It’s just like any other college campus. It’s everywhere; easy to find.

Edible education sounds great. Michael Pollan is a hotshot. >:D<

could you give us any recommendations for the courses satisfy AC requirement?

@victor9496 - I’ve listed a few of my favorite AC classes above and described what they were about. You can also check out the American Cultures website that lists all the possible classes you can take (from ANY department). I recommend taking an AC in a department completely different than yours. (I was an English major but I did my AC in both Sociology and Psychology).

@engandlaw28 – First of all, thank you so much for taking your time and answering these questions. My question is this: I just looked over my “Conditions for Acceptance” and it states that I have to complete all of the courses I reported when applying…unfortunately, I dropped macroeconomics this semester due to time constraints. Even with this course dropped, I will still finish 60 units and the IGETC. Do you think that there is a possibility of my acceptance being rescinded because of this dropped class? I reported this dropped class to my admissions officer already and I am waiting for a response.
@highered4all england28 was last active in September 2014, it is unlikely you will get a response.
@luckie1367 Oops! Thanks for letting me know!
Thank you so much for doing this!
How difficult is it to get a spot on the student newspaper? I would ask about the school’s radio station too, but I don’t know if you have any experience with that.
I was admitted as an English major, so I’m worried that I’ll just get lost among the many talented writers at Cal.
STOP
YOU ARE NOT GOING TO GET AN ANSWER. THE OP HASN’T BEEN ON IN 8 MONTHS @dreadfulpennys.
Look at the actual Berk thread to ask questions to current students.
Wow, didn’t even see the date @luckie1367! Thanks!
Where is a good place to eat?
This discussion has been super helpful. Thank you to everyone who responded and shared their knowledge! (:
