For InvestmentBanking, UMichigan or Northwestern?

which of these 2 school would be better for an ibanking career?
assuming UMichigan Ross Biz school VS. Northwestern Economics major

No difference if you do well.

I think Ross has the edge, one of the best Undergrad business schools in the nation. They're right behind Wharton and Stern for finance, and 2nd only to Wharton in marketing and management.

assuming you don't get an mba ross would probably give you a slight edge at IB (if any edge at all).

Ross vs Northwestern Econ, I would say Ross has the advantage. Annually, of the 120 or so graduating Ross students who concentrate in Finance and apply to IBanks, roughly 60 get jobs with top IBs like JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Lehman Brothers, UBS, Credit Suisse, Lazard Freres, Merrill Lynch etc...

However, between Michigan Econ and Northwestern Econ, I would give the slight edge to Northwestern. Northwestern is smaller (less competition for jobs) and slightly better in Economics.

However, both schools are amazing and will open doors and if it comes down to those two, I would recommend one chose based on fit rather than perceived differences in quality.
