Yeah I was referring to that link...I didn't realize they went by freshman year of college, I thought that it was the current year one was applying in (06-07). It somewhat gives me relief to hear this, but we can't deny that it's really right around the corner.

I just got an email from WashU.

Now THEIR application for us is up already!

Just when you thought you were safe...

Bump.......

Let's give it a little BUMP........

WELCOME, ALL RISING SENIORS who are already advancing on the PERILOUS (yet exhilarating) road to college. TODAY, I'd like to announce the rebirth of this classical thread.

As a senior I just had one regret about my college app process - not applying early.

So I'd advise u juniors to apply to your dream school/or at least somewhere early. With all the stuff about how it's harder to get in and the legacies and athletes get in during that time, it's very valuable to have at least submitted one app and be able to learn from that one in your next apps. And I personally think EA does give you a boost, especially SCEA. And it SUCKS not knowing where you're going to go until late March, especially when people at your school have already gotten in EA.

thanks ebonytear for your advice, one question: what is SCEA?

single choice early action, i believe

yes, it's single choice early action. Stanford, Yale, and Harvard use it. basically, it's early action but you aren't allowed to apply early to any other schools

Man. It's only April. I can't wait until November so I can send apps in. :)

Well you can begin your app to WashU right now.

Aww I missed this thread! Let's start talking about something this time so it doesn't die again.

My current plans (I feel the need to post it for some reason, just to clear my head)

SAT Subject Tests on May 6th
Literature
Biology M
U.S. History

AP Tests in May
English Lang
Spanish Lang
Biology
US History

SAT in June

ACT in June

Retake any SAT's, if needed (hopefully not)

October 15th, mail my SCEA app

Hopefully there are no drastic changes

I agreeee! Somehow, I just want to get it all over with :P

Btw, do you guys know when applications for the class of 2011 go up onto college websites? Or does it vary for them all...

precocious - it varies from college to college. Most release them in July-August.

Where's everyone applying early? I'm doing Yale.

yale, princeton, or harvard (possibly cornell, because of its high admit rate>> 44% early) :)

anyway, im doing my sat reasoning in may, and 2 sat 2s in june.

what are you guys planning to do during the summer?? besides filling out applications?

I'm taking one or two courses at a local university, plus a bit of work experience at our police dept., along with something REALLY special (it's a secret!)

by the way, has anybody ever heard of the BU summer internship program in DC? I saw it online today and it sounds actually quite competitive, taking 2 college courses in a month, earning 8 college credits, plus intern in dc. what do you think?

^ saw that also! i think it's a great summer prgoram :)

i'm doing ed @ tufts! this summer i'll probably be doing a program there also as well as doing ap homework (five subjects worth... sigh) and trying to find a job and FINALLY getting my long overdue license.

Hmm summer...

Well NJ Governor's Schools were canceled as of last week, so I'll do NJ Scholars Program, Harvard SSP, JSA, debate camp, courses at the local CC, research, and/or a job. Something tells me I should decide soon...

Oh and I'm taking 6 AP's in May, SAT II chem the day after my birthday (!! It's ok, though. I've taken the SAT on my birthday too. And my sister's senior cut day was then too. Grr), ACT again in June if necessary, SAT in October if necessary, and World History and/or Physics SAT II's, if necessary, in November.

what do you guys think of the BU Summer internship in dc?

or should i stay at home and take a few courses at a local university?

Hey all.

Any Juniors from NC? :)

stewie: hmmm...college admissions...a very interesting job indeed...even better than working with plutonium...
