Hi, right now I am thinking about going into a Pre-med and Business track because I am best at science. I understand that Rutgers is a good school; however, if there are so many people, im afraid that Rutgers will not even have room for me to get INTO pre-med. If i go to Binghamton, there is probably an easier chance for me to get into pre-med. Both colleges cost the same, and they will save me tons of money compared to U Rochester. Moreover, I heard that Binghamton's business is good too so i can always have something to lean back on. I am also afraid that Rutgers will treat me somewhat unfairly since their AP students get so much more. Binghamton is begging me to go to their school with new mail in my mailbox every week. They also gave me some grants. So what do you guys think? I am really stuck on this hard decision now, and I am about to go to Binghamton now to speak to some advisors. Thanks, help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey--

I'm a pre-med student at Rutgers now. I think you're a bit confused about how being pre-med works. It's not something you get "into," nor is it a major you choose. Being pre-med is just a set of core courses you take (bio, chem, physics, math, writing) so that you can apply to med school. The health professions office (the pre-med advising office) does not reject anyone from being advised.

Anyway, Rutgers' business school is not nearly as good as their sciences. So, if you're not sure about pre-med you may not decide to come here. But if you're pretty sure about pre-med and science, I'd say Rutgers would be a pretty good match.

And also-- Are Rutgers and Binghamton that different in size??? They're both large state schools..

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. I know Rutgers is a LOT bigger than Binghamton, and Rutgers has very large class sizes. I know Rutgers has more opportunity, but its also more competitive. I’m going in as a biology major, hoping for med school. Which school would be better for premedical courses??
