For New York applicants, do admissions look at Regents scores?

I have done fairly well on all of my Regents. I was wonder if schools in the Northeast look at Regents scores for applicants from New York. I figure that since it is a "standarized test" it is a good measure of grade inflation/deflation at a school.

My scores:

Earth Science:98
Math A: 99
Biology: 95
Global: 98
Math B: 95
Chemistry: 90
English: 98
US History: 100
Physics: 93
Spanish: 96

I was wondering how much these scores could help/hurt me considering that I have a high average (97.3 UW, class rank of 6/457) but fairly average SAT scores for the schools to which I am applying (1330, 1980). I am applying to Lafayette, Union, RPI, Clarkson, Binghamton, Northeastern, and Villanova.

Thanks!

I’m quite positive admissions look at Regents. They appear on one’s transcript, after all (or, at least they do on mine.) And yours could only help, really. =)

Btw, I’m jealous of your 100! I got 99’s on both Global and US…

Thanks for the opinion! Haha I was stoked about that 100. My teacher, who is in his early '50s and has been teaching Honors US History for a long time, has never taught a student who received a 100 on the Regents. I was quite happy to say the least.

Yes, they do.
I asked Cornell and the rep explicitly said they are looked at.
I did low 90’s on most of mine, except an 86, and…a 72 on physics.
How bad is one 72 amidst a sea of 90’s?

Although NY State Regent Exams appear on your transcript, the scores are only looked at by private and public NY State colleges. The rest of the 49 States don’t care about them, as there is no cross-state equivalents.

Thanks for the opinions. Gibby, that is fairly good news because I am applying to Union, RPI, Clarkson, and Binghamton, among other schools. Do my regents scores look better than my SAT scores?

They will certainly help.
I just wish I didn’t have such a low physics one…sigh
