Hello,

I have two pen pals who live outside the US. Both of them have attended and graduated from their universities in the country of their origin but wants to attend some classes in the US, not for credit, but to learn something new and get some experience with both their specific majors and English for a year.

Neither have chosen a collage to attend and have yet to attempt to take the TOEFL test (one of them took the practice one and didn't like their result), but will probably do so once they feel that they understand spoken word better.

Can they apply for student visas? Are they allowed to stall on the TOEFL test? They want to attend classes in North Carolina, is there some additional requirements they would need or don't need? Are the requirements based on collages? Is it too late to apply for Summer Classes and/or Fall Classes?

Any and all information would help. They wrote to me for advice on the entire process but I don't know anything about Non-Degrees. Please help me help them out?

Thanks.
