FOR NY STUDENTS: Do NYS Regent factor in for college admissions?

Hey! I am a sophomore and I’ve taken most regents necessary for graduation with exception of US History and Physics.
My scores are:
Algebra 1: 97
Geometry: 96
Living Environment: 93
Global History: I just took this one and I feel confident because I took AP
Chemistry: I also feel somewhat confident about this one as well
Algebra 2/Trig: Now, I don’t feel as confident in this one. Hopefully, a 93 if I’m lucky.

Now do these grades matter for admission into Cornell, Columbia, NYU, or SUNYS such as Binghampton or Stony Brook?

I believe the regents scores only matter for SUNYs.

The ONLY kids in the country who take Regents are kids who attend high school in NY.

I can’t think of a college in the country that can afgord to ignore applicants from the rest of the world.

So, short answer, No, they’re not a big deal
Now, get a string of 100’s and it says something. But an 83 as opposed to a 91??? Nope, not going to make a difference in admissions.

First, talk to your guidance counselor in the fall and see if the Regents exam scores are on the transcript sent to colleges. Our NY public HS only gives out the year end final grade and doesn’t include Regents scores on the transcript.
If Regents scores are on the transcript, I also believe that SUNY schools do pay more attention to them… Other colleges could look at Regents grades as final exam scores but there is no hard and fast rule – different colleges approach things differently.

Just checked our school website. According to a SUNY presentation our school has linked, the SUNYs do take into account regents scores.

Thank you all very much!!

Can you tell me the name of your public high school? We are getting resistance from administration about removing the common core math regents from our transcripts. It would certainly help our cause if we can site your school as an example. Thank you!

Aren’t you missing the English Regents?

@Yaismin i am missing the English regents woops

Some schools use Regents for placement purposes, especially for math.
