<p>At least for the Danforth scholarship, they specifically say it’s okay to use the same for both, as long as your existing common app essay is applicable to the scholarship prompt.</p>

<p>You should always be putting your strongest foot forward. If you think that your common app essay is your own best responses to the essay prompt, then use it. If not, don’t. That’s why they specifically say it’s ok; it will not hurt you if you use the same essay, it will only hurt you if you sacrifice the opportunity to show the committee your best self.</p>
<p>You can use whatever you think is best. Just ask yourself, with the scholarship situation being very competetive - Am I showing the maximum effort possible to rise to the top of the scholarship applicant pool.</p>
