For parents with non-senior kids...

I have been terrified of the college admissions process so I've been reading this site like an addict!

Today I signed up my 9th and 11th grade sons for a program held at Emory University in Atlanta -- I spoke the the program director myself and it seems to be a great program!!!

Eddie P

Let not your heart be troubled. And get a copy of Harry Bauld's book on writing application essays. Oh, and the Fiske guide to colleges. Good luck!

At nearly $2K a kid, that is a hefty financial undertaking. Most likely, you could gain as much information, for free, just by hanging out on the internet, or for minimal cost, by purchasing a few decent college books. The information is all out there.

I sure do hope that turns out to be a good program for your kids.

Between guides and the collective knowlege on this board paying for advice may not be the wisest move. There are hundreds of honest, intellegent and articulate folks here.... plus a few others like myself that do what we can.

... and occasionally two or more of us agree on something!

Come here for information, come here for support - we'll help get you through this process.

my kids did debate camp and tech camp at Emory 3 summers ago-they liked it!

One of the best books I have read about getting ready for Senior year and the whole college experience was "What to do When for College" It is very informative and helps you set some organizational things up ahead of time.

Gee, that's the first time I've ever heard that.
Signed, the Great Minimizer

Welcome, Eddie. There's lots to be learned here. As I'm sure you have found and will find, most folks here are generous with their time and information.
