I'm trying to decide whether I should go to Cornell (A & S) or Vanderbilt for my pre-med education. I have a full scholarship to Vanderbilt, and with the medical center right on campus, it was previously an easy decision.

But, I'm trying to weigh the fact that Vanderbilt will prepare me for the future more efficiently against the fact that I'd probably connect better with Cornellians. I'm an avid gamer, for example, and I have noticed that many Cornell students seem to share my passion, while Vanderbilt seems like a much more "sports-y" school. I'm not into sports, and I never have been. So, basically, I feel like I would connect better with people from Cornell.

Can anyone help me with this decision? I know I only have 3 days to make up my mind but I'm hoping that someone here can shed some insight. Thanks!

Both Vanderbilt and Cornell tend to cross admit with each other from undergrad to med school. You did not mention if you had an equally good financial package from Cornell. I would go to the school that gives you the best financial package. They both really are pretty much a toss up academically.

i picked cornell over vanderbilt no question i didnt know much about vanderbilt but i loved the atmosphere that cornell had and the wide spectrum of people you find there plus the bowling ally was awesome

this is a bit belated, but just to throw my two cents in there. Cornell produces more med students/doctors than any other school in the entire United States. Enough Said :)

well harvey, Cornell’s undergraduate population is definitely larger than most private schools. Oberlin sends more students to grad schools than any other LACs, but that’s because Oberlin has twice the population of most LACs. I think Cornell is a great institution and that’s why I’m going there, but facts are facts.
