For SAT II Bio: Barrons vs. Princeton?

I'm going to take sat biology in winter,
i'm currently studying with PR + my school textbook.
But Barrons vs. Princeton, which one?

KAPLAN!!!....thats what most people recommend

yea, KAPLAN. i liked PR though

Kaplan. It's harder than the real test, which is very good for prep.

I studied with only barrons and got an 800. It was pretty dense though.

Barrons.

I used it to prep for my AP test, too. (Because I didn't feel like going through my textbook.)

Definetly barrons...

I'm using both Barron's and PR. Also use SparkNotes as a supplement.

Oh fuc*,...wth am i doing with PR then;

THen heres new queston:
Kaplan or Barrons?

once again...barrons

Actually PR prepared me very well...

BARRONS F UCKING SUCKS! ITS HORRIBLE, DOES NOT GET TO THE POINT, VERY ANNOYING TO READ!!!! GET PRINCETON REVIEW, IT HELPED ME GET ABOVE 700 ON THE SAT II!

DON'T LISTEN TO THESE PEOPLE!!! MY FRIEND STUDIED WITH BARRONS AND GOT A 620!

ok go-vibe you really need to chill

thats what we mean when we say it "overpreps" you...which is a good thing cause on this last SAT II ..some of the Random things on Barrons were actually on the FIRST FEW questions
not to mention that the author of this thread is taking it in WINTER ...which means he can read like a section a day (around 3-5 pgs) and get it easly done with.

one exeptional case does not prove that the book is bad..i ve studied with Barrons and got a 790..(and i couldve made 800 but it was only cause i second guessed something) ..alot of people studied with barrons and got 800's.....maybe some people studied with PR and failed the test...it all depends on how well u studied and the ablility/motivation/time availlibilty of the student...

Barron only has the 2002 edition. The SAT test hasn't changed format has it?

Princeton Review is the most well-written and concise, although I don't recommend using it without another book to supplement it. It doesn't go into enough detail sometimes, and it misses some important concepts.

Kaplan is also good, and it goes into more detail than Princeton Review. The practice tests are really, really hard, though. Don't be discouraged if you get a low score on the Kaplan tests, as they're much harder than than the real test. I used Kaplan to supplement Princeton Review and did well on the SAT II.

Barron's is questionable, IMO. It's full of information that definitely wouldn't be tested on the SAT II. I stopped reading when I got to the chapter listing every single vitamin and mineral and each of their functions. -_- Although I suppose you could read over Barron's for reinforcement if you're not yet comfortable with the material after Princeton Review and Kaplan.

So is Barron's 2002 edition still useful for the 2006 winter SAT Bio exam?

Barron's is the best for any topic excluding USH. My two cents.

yup..got a 790 studying w/it ...couldve gotten 800 too but i was a bit rushed and made stupid mistakes (that i know of).....besides as i said when/if they release a new one..its not gonna differ that much from the current one...so yea it ll help..
PS: i DONT reccomend PR...because as other ppl said ..it misses out on some things..( trust me ..i ve had BAD experiences with PR books..even though i havent used this one in particular..but i know that they all have nearly the same format)

wow i totally agree. Barron's is really bad. I tried using them for Chemistry, and I did extremely bad. I used Princeton and did alot better than with Barrons.

I like Princeton Review. I think it's really easy to understand and learn from. I guess people's tastes in books differ a lot.

I totallya gree with you stanford. I totally agree :)
