Even though my D was already a vocal performance major she found the July 04 issue of Opera News very helpful. The entire issue was dedicated to higher education in the vocal arts. Great articles that covered master classes, auditions, and the real cost of becoming a singer. (Renee Flemings autobiography should be of interest for the young female singer as well.)</p>

<p>Most good libraries have Opera News if you are not a subscriber.</p>
<p>I was able to access the issue online through my library's website and going to databases. Could download pdfs and will read later.</p>
