For singers studying at Berklee College

What songs are recommended for auditions at colleges like Berklee? I know the requirement says any one song that we want but most of the songs I sing are Korean and that would be stupid; to sing a Korean song in front of English speaking judges. So any song suggestions would be much appreciated.

I don’t attend Berklee, but I auditioned there as a vocalist with an Etta James tune (not At Last, that’s way too overdone) and got accepted. Just go with your strengths. Since diction is typically taken into consideration during vocal auditions, I would recommend something in English. I have a friend who is equally well-versed in Korean popular music, so I totally understand the appeal. Embrace this opportunity to broaden your horizons as a vocalist. =)

Are there any English-speaking bands/artists you like that you might be able to cover well? If you give me a list of specifics, I may be able to help guide you to a decision. Also, if you had to compare your voice to that of any popular singer, which one(s) would you say sound most like you?

I dont know about sounding like me, but Bruno Mars and Jason Mraz are of the few I listen to that sing English songs. However I should take Bruno Mars out of the equation because his songs are way way way too high for my
range. Maybe Jason Mraz’s “Live High”? I appreciate your help
