FOR STERNIES: Finance & Math double major?

To get to the point:

Could one take a Finance and Math double major without bringing any AP/IB credits to NYU as a freshmen and graduate within 4 years? (Any feedback from current Finance/Math double majors at Stern would be great)

The Courant Department of Mathematics states that one would need to take 12 courses in order to earn a math degree. Considering Calculus I overlaps with one of Stern's core requirements, that would leave me 11 courses to complete... Would this fit within 4 years or would i have to take summer courses?

Generally how many students at Stern double major, and what are the most common double majors?

Higher GPA of Stern finance major vs. a bit lower GPA of a Stern Finance/Math double major?

Thankss!

I don’t think you can fit a math major in the amount of elective credits Stern offers. However you can double major in stern, and minor in math. Most common double majors in Stern are finance/econ, finance/accounting, finance/management, management/marketing.

Dang, that sucks… But I did hear that there are a lot of Stern Finance-Math double majors… Do you know they pull it off?

I’m not sure if you can double major math and finance it depends on how many credits are required for the math major. I have not met any finance math double majors.

I can vouch for the fact that there are finance math double majors. I heard this from a current stern sophomore. There are many students who choose that path. But i don’t know how they did it and would like to know. I’d like to major in both as well.

Yea could anyone tell us how exactly they fit in their schedule? pleaase TT

It depends on how many credits the math major is. If it fits in the Stern elective credits then you are set, if not then they probably had to take extra classes over the summer maybe.

bumppp any finance/math majors out there? TT
