I started college last fall, so this is my first year. However, when applying for summer internships and such, on the application would you say that you are a freshman or a (rising) sophomore? I know I am a freshman, but by the time the internship begins, I would be between the two years and considered a sophomore by some.

I ask because I called the coordinator of SULI at a national lab, and she said that out of 400 applications, only four freshman got an offer (and 12 sophomores). I was wondering if she meant four students who, like me, are now in their first year of college, or four students who will be freshman next year and consider themselves to be rising fresh.

It seemed obvious to me (i applied as a fresh), but i just saw on the app you can apply as a freshman, soph, jun, senior (maybe during the year), or rising senior. What did you guys put?

Any input? Can people who will be freshman next year even apply for SULI?
