People like you never cease to amaze me: your GPA, ECs, and maybe SATs are over the top, and yet, you still ask people about your chances. And for UCSC of all places!

If I were you, I would be asking my chances for UCI, UCD, UCSB, and maybe UCSD, UCLA, and UCB.

I'm going to rant here too. I visited UCSC over the summer and I fell in love with it. Number 1. Now all the UCs I visited I thought were great in their own way, and I wonder if all the people applying to the UCs have even bothered to check them out. Each are different in their own way, and you have to figure out which is going to fit best with you and your lifestyle.

You are incredibly lucky you have the stats to get EASILY into UCSC. I can't even believe you are asking this question. I just hope you've been to Santa Cruz and feel as good about it as I do. I have the GPA, for sure, but my SATs completely suck. So, for me, it's definitely a reach. I'm just hoping that a lot of you think it academically sucks and don't want to go, since it might give me, who finds it PERFECT, a better chance of getting in. I'm just hoping that Santa Cruz can figure out the difference between those who have applied because there's nothing better and those who have applied who have actually visited and really want to be there.

At least you have the GPA! :(

Here are my stats:
GPA: 3.15
SAt 1: 1740 (highest one)
SAT 2: 600 (biology), 600 (math level 2), 620 (US history)

I don't see much light at the end of my tunnel either...

If it helps, I know people who have gotten in with average grades, average test scores, and basically no ECs. Most UC qualified people have a decent shot at UCSC if they can write a good essay. Good luck everyone. btw I really love UCSC as well. It greatly irritates me when people seem to apply just because they'll get in, but they don't actually like it.

I don't actually go to UCSC (although I hope to soon). I'm going by people that i have known this year and last. A lot of those people were very average and still got in. So don't lose hope just because your GPA is below average!
