for the marching banders out there..

Man, my school is so small. We don’t even have a field, much less a band! I never got to see or get involved in stuff like this.

You guys are lucky.

We have about 50 members. You can watch our halftime show below (I’m actually in it).

I think I made the right decision by quitting :o.

Marching band is life (: I’m so glad I joined, I wouldn’t be at the musical level I am today without it

@ IceQube You’re complaining about getting home at midnight?! Try 3AM every Saturday night…lol…

Here’s my marching band last year. Please excuse the crappy camera position and all the screaming that blocks some of the noise. This performance was very sloppy. No idea how we won…I’m the tenor drum player at the very end of the drumline.

Anybody high step march here? My band is small (about 50 all together), but we are really good. I am part of the WCHS DMM (won’t give exacts because I wanna keep a low profile). We are two time High Stepping Nationals 1A Champs and four time National Drumline Champs. There aren’t any recent videos of us, but there was one last year that was flagged and deleted on YouTube because people at our rival school hate our guts. We’ll probably have one up this year, but it might not happen.

But, my band’s theme is supposed to be Pop Divas, ranging from J. Lo to Beyonce. Marching and general effect are our specialities, but of course music is our #1 priority.

We’re doing Concrete Canyons (Basically the Bluecoat’s Metropolis show from last year)
We’re competing in BOA.

@bandgeek1
I suppose those are huge exceptions then.

Finished our opener today. I still think the staff struggles with time management but I’ve restored some faith in them.

Also, the funniest/rather embarrassing thing happened in practice.

My band has about 110 people in it. What instrument do you guys play?

Trumpet…2nd part and it’s my second year…MOVING ON UP!!!

@OtherWindow not really I could post at least 20 other bands that size that are just as good I just didn’t feel like posting them. Lake Lehman (2008 and earlier, they just got a new director so they aren’t as good as they were), Pittston Area, Brick Memorial, Williamstown, etc.
There are a lot of terrible big bands too, I feel like listing them would be mean though. Size is really irrelevant to excellence in the band.

Clarinet but I mostly play the flute and pic parts because my band is one of those bands I posted and the part is very exposed in our show this year.

@bandgeek1 I used to live in Brick Township, NJ. Haha, I guess I would have been in a winning band either way…

Who here is not in a corp style band?

If anyone in NJ reads this:

If you go to one of the following

Kingsway Reg.
Timber Creek
Collingswood
Woodbury
Bernegat

Or is in a Group 2A TOB NJ band

**you are going down this year
**

:) tee hee.

haha I’m group 2 open :P

Unfortunately I can’t call your type of bands out yet because we struggled last year. But your school’s head will be off next year. :O

@bandgeek1
For the thousands of bands out there, that would still make them exceptions. Surely you agree that if you took an average rating of band, there would certainly be some correlation with size? (And yes, there are some truly awful, large bands that produce abhorrent, hellish sounds)

I’m in group 4 Open
We were Chapter Champs last year!!!

Our show is entitled SOundGarden by John Meehan

Our school doesn’t do competitions, but we do perform a different field show at every home football game and march in parades.

@IceQube: I’m not in a corps style band! But, I would love to be in one.
