When does UT-Austin tell you if you got into BHP or not? I applied to UT-Austin's McCombs School as an OOS applicant and got in (yay!) but I don't know if I've been accepted into BHP or not...the decisions page doesn't mention it, only that my honors programs applications are complete (I applied to other honors programs aside from BHP too).

Oh, speaking of my acceptance I wasn't top 2 or 3% of my school...I'm actually top 10-15% with a 3.65 GPA but I had good test scores 1510/2310 and good everything else. Most rigorous courseload possible. My school doesn't rank, but I'm proof that rank isn't EVERYTHING even though sometimes it does seem that way.

Okay, nevermind, an admissions counselor just emailed me back saying the honors programs operate separately apart from admissions...so I'll be waiting impatiently still.

If I get into BHP it just might override any other acceptance I get.

AH that would be absolutely wonderful if I got in...

This question is for those who had a BHP interview and/or was accepted into BHP:

When did you receive your UT (not necessarily BHP) acceptance? When did someone call you to do a BHP interview? How long did you wait until you received McCombs' BHP decision--that is, how long after you received UT's decision? Is it crucial to have a BHP interview before becoming accepted? Do all BHP acceptees have interviews?

I got accepted to McCombs in October. I applied to BHP in November, got an e-mail to schedule an interview in early february, had my interview, and got my acceptance about one week later. If you don't get an interview, your definitely not in. hope this helps. good luck!

Thanks again for all those who responded to my BHP questions. I just got my official letter from UT today (not BHP). A little disappointed in the thin acceptance letter (was expecting a big package haha), but still pleased nonetheless. :) Now, I just wait for BHP...

Since a BHP interview precedes a BHP acceptance, I'm anxiously crossing my fingers for a BHP interviewer to call me in March...it seems as if the BHP interview takes place at least 3 weeks after one is accepted into McCombs.

So looks like I'll be getting my BHP interview within a week after all!!! Really hope I don't mess it up.

Does getting an interview mean my chances are good for admission? The BHP website says an alumni interview is "invitation only," so I don't really know what to make of the interview--does BHP call all applicants? Or only promising applicants?

Anyone get a BHP interview but not get accepted to BHP? Eek.

Barrett08: You can definitely apply for BHP sophomore year, and I'm not a UT admissions officer, but I doubt you can get into BHP once you're enrolled as a McCombs freshman. Don't worry though, you got into McCombs! :)

I looked at a bhp pamphlet i have and for sophomore admissions, there are about 80-120 or so who apply and about a third get into the program. It looks like there are people who select themselves out because the average gpa's for accepted sophomores is 3.9+.

Thanks for letting me know. It is my own fault for not having applied to BHP. I didn't realize UT had a separate app. Any idea the GPA needed to make BHP as a sophmore?
