What type of grades did you get and what type of classes did you take? Did you do/participate in a lot of activites like sports or music? Did you ever get lower than an 85 for an overall grade and how did you do on your SATs? Was you're high school competitive or average?

Why don’t look at the Dartmouth results threads for past years

I went to a New England Preparatory Boarding School. 3.8/4.0. 2280 SAT I, 790 and 750 SAT II. Editor of Newspaper, Head of community service organization, Head of school cafe, Student body representative, Dorm Prefect, and Cross Country runner. 6 APs throughout high school, 3 of them 5’s so far.

New England Public not so great school…valedictorian of 220. 2180SAT, 780 Math II, 680 BioM

Student Council Treasurer, Interact President, Math Team(state awards etc.), X-country skiing, track, Elementary math team coach, tutor

7AP’s(scores: 1,3,4,3,2,2,5) and one college course(A)…

I just got likely’d to Dartmouth.

800/800/740 (740 in writing), 800 chinese, 800 math 2, 790 chem, 770 us hist. 8 ap’s, with 6 more to come. so far six 5’s and two 4’s. 4.00 GPA.

I feel that my extracurriculars are really what got me over the hump. I have a lot of stuff with FBLA. National Phil. Councilperson, Regional Pres, School pres. Also an officer in 3 honor societies, captain math team, president quiz bowl team, captained jv tennis, chief editor of a newspaper/magazine. I also have 10 years of piano under my belt and sent in a music supplement.

One of my best friends also got a Dartmouth likely. She had pretty good academics (nothing exceptional), but had killer extracurriculars. Another good friend of mine got one last year, and she had very little extracurricular wise, but her academics were top notch.

There’s not a formula for getting into Dartmouth. Do your best at whatever you please, apply, and if you get in, then come! :)
