For those of you have daughters, is the fact that there are so many girls an issue socially?

I noticed when we visited that there seemed to be more girls walking around. Then when I saw the stats it made sense. Any insights would be appreciated.

I have a daughter at a different university where the male/female ration is about the same. For my daughter and her female friends, it isn’t a problem at all. Given the ratio is as skewed as it is, I do wonder whether all of the women on campus could possibly be having the same experience.

@DadTwoGirls I read an interesting article awhile ago that said schools that have many more girls tend to have more of a hookup culture and schools that are more evenly balanced or have more males have more students actually dating each other. I guess it’s kind of self-explanatory. When guys outnumber the girls they tend to feel the need to settle down, so to speak. My daughter goes to a hs with many more females and most of the girls who have boyfriends met these boys outside of the school.

On a positive note my daughter has formed many nice female friendships there. I’m not sure the ratio has any effect on dating anymore-That seems to be a generational shift in culture

You know, when I went to college, men were the majority at most schools. I don’t remember anyone asking them if their social lives were impeded by the lack of females. It all works out in the end. Always has, always will.
