For those of you in the Northwestern HPME program....

So I am a rising Junior in highschool and I am interested in the NorthWestern’s HPME program. I just wanted to know if the SAT essay section is required to receive an application for the HPME program?

The SAT essay and ACT essay is not required for Northwestern undergrad, but the ACT writing is recommended for HPME. I don’t know if the SAT essay is recommended, but I know for sure that the ACT writing is recommended. I am pretty sure that the SAT essay is not, but I have contacted the admissions office and the HPME office and they have responded with:

Thank you for your interest in HPME.

We are currently reviewing our policies and procedures for the HPME program at Northwestern and cannot answer individual questions at this time. We expect to have additional information within a few weeks. Once available, this information will be posted on our website. Please check back with us after August 15.

I am not being spammy at all. They asked to check up first week of August so I did. The office of undergraduate admissions was the first person I contacted so I didn’t really know what to do.

They cancelled it?? What does that mean and why?

@greenmountcoffee They got rid of because of COVID-19 and will replace it with a program exclusively for under represented minorities. HPME has been around for 59 years so it is sad that they are getting rid of it.

They cancelled HPME for Highschool Class of 2021 and beyond but I belief NUPSP is still available.
