For those of you that work, where do you work?

I've always considered myself too busy with school to get a job, but with 2nd semster of sr year and summer approaching, I may get one. Who works where, and does anyone work for an SAT prep company like Kaplan?

Police trainee. :)

All right, so it's low pay. But still pretty cool.

guest services representative at an amazing chain retail Furniture store in NE

I used to work at Kumon. Thank god I quit. I'm going to get another job from May through June/July at the end of junior year (this Spring).

I work at a pharmacy. It's a good job, get to do all kinds of stuff and the pay is alright. Sometimes I'm at the register, sometimes cutting delivery slips/paper, pricing, stocking, throwing things into dumpsters, etc.

I work at Shoprite. I know it sounds like utter you-know-what-on-a-stick, but I love the people there.

I have cashiering experience, so hopefully I'll be moved up in a little bit.

Yeah, it's the only job you can get in my town, haha.

Test prep people get paid very well, but if you're in high school you're not going to get a job with them.

Find out where your classmates work, and get advise from them on the best places.

Weell, I currently work at Kumon. Getting $7 an hour two days a week. It's nice if you just want some spare cash, but not if you're interested in a steady paycheck. I didn't want to work all of the time, so that's why I got this job.

whats Kuman?

A couple of my classmates work for Kaplan (they're seniors, 18 years old), but their SAT scores were top notch.

i work in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, New York Univeristy. :D

Oh, cool. I talked to someone who worked for Princeton Review once and he said he got paid very well, but he and the people he worked with were all just out of college -aged.

i used to work as a janitor at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum. It was kind of cool and dirty at the same time lol.

working at home is great. piano teacher. $25/hour.

I'm a bank teller. It's a pretty good job with pretty good money. It's a nice job to continue in college, too.

That's in the summer. Year round I make most of my money as a musician.

I work at Rite Aid (a drug store like CVS or Walgreens). I cashier and develop photos. It's occasionally entertaining, mostly horribly boring. But they pay me $8/hour and sometimes I have time to do hw when it's slow. And that's really all i can ask for in this entry-level-menial-labor job thing.

I tutor. I make a lot more than people in Kaplan

I actually started a tutoring service this year. employed a lot of my smart friends. They work for cheap, and the rest goes to charity (minus overhead costs of course).

And we tutor more than just SAT. We help a lot of people with math (algebra II in particular) and science (physics and chemistry in particular)

only raised a $1000 this semester. but planning to amp it up next semester. With the support of my school administration (and hopefully a car and sponsors) I'll raise some cash.

PM me or email me at vtran31@gmail.com if u want any advice about starting a tutoring service up (or just how to start tutoring)
