For those of you who got first choices for housing.. Did you apply early?

I am wondering whether applying towards the end of the month had something to do with my housing decision and for those who did not get what they wanted.

I got De Neve plaza, but I really want residence hall. I even updated my application to residence hall for all three of my choices and triples and doubles only.

So those of you who got residence halls, did you apply early? And does anyone who have residence hall want to trade for a De Neve plaza (if we can do that...)

I submitted like mid-april and got my first choice (De Neve plaza as well).

To answer your other question though, I think their application hasn’t been updating for the past week-ish, as I’ve resubmitted my changes a number of times to no avail, so it’s possible that your updates were just late? I dunno, my 2cents.

Good luck if you try to change though

I submitted my housing application like a few days after I got accepted to UCLA (so pretty darn early)
I wanted a Plaza with a private bathroom. And i just got my offer and it’s a plaza with a private bathroom (although it’s not the exact plaza building i wanted)

Its a lottery. I applied only a day before the deadline and got my first choice (De Neve) and a Double! Why do you want a res hall? The food’s better in De Neve (I tried it), the rooms are larger, and everything’s brand new, and close to bruinwalk. What more could you ask for?

I don’t want to pay the extra 2500 or so.

I think there is a shortage of residence halls, or so I have heard. So maybe those who applied for residence halls early got theirs?

It really is a lottery. It doesn’t matter when you submitted your form. There are just so many students it is impossible to give everyone their first choice. Most people in De Neve love it. Give it a chance.

IT IS RANDOM.

HOW DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THIS? IT HAS BEEN SAID NUMEROUS TIMES. LOTTERY. LOTTERY. LOTTERY. SUBMITTING EARLY GOT YOU NOTHING SPECIAL.

HOLY HELL IS IT THAT HARD TO UNDERSTAND?

maybe if i post in caps more people will listen

yea he is rite
its definitely random

i submitted housing app april 30th and got first choice…res hall
gonna be at Hedrick Res Hall

and my second choice was plaza, and suite was third

lol same here. sent my app in 28th of april, got first choice. hedrick res hall although triple instead of double, but that was expected.

i applied on april 15th and asked for a res hall, and a roommate, and i got sproul hall, however i got a triple when i applied for a double,my roommate applied for a triple though so that may explain why i got a triple.-it’s cheaper anyway so i am okay with it. =]

I submitted it a couple days before deadline and got a single shared. I also followed directions and submitted my preferences with a different option in each box.

I saw some people around here saying they kept repeating their main preference over and over again in each box lol. Wonder if they got what they wanted…
