My friend just got assigned to stay at the Grand Hyatt Regency Hotel in Cambridge due to overflow dorming next year. Apparently, 400 students got assigned there. They get room service, furnishings, and everything. 2 people per a 2 full-sized bed room.

yeah, that is true. i am a rising sophmore and i will also be staying at the Hyatt. my roommate and i both requested to be placed there, so it's def not like getting the boot from on-campus residences or anything. it is actually nice there. private bath, room service (on your own account), maid service twice a week, able to use their gym and pool during designated hours. basically, the hyatt is awesome. the only draw back is that you would have to do your laundry at warren, but its no big deal esp. since the BU shuttle leaves from the hyatt every 20-30 minutes until midnight. if any more questions, ill def respond to them as they come. peace out peeps.

do you know when those of us who haven't gotten housing yet will?

not getting your housing yet doesnt automatically mean you'll be in the hyatt. last year, i had two friends who didnt get their housing until mid-august. one ended up in shelton and the other in the hojo (575). so if u havent received your housing yet and you're dreading the hyatt, there's still hope.

Some think they are going to the Hyatt yet something opens up so you never know for sure until move in day. Its about a 5 min. walk across the bridge to West campus. Some rooms have river and BU views. Lots of kids will visit you there and the students there can form a community. Less rigid security so it has its pros and cons like anything. Bathrooms and maid service helps. That being said, you'll want to make firends with kids in Warren or West aand hang out there with them too for when a dorm room opens up for you.

yeah, dont expect BU to tell you what residence you will get... i didnt know till the day before i moved in that i was going to end up in the hyatt. other than that, dont worry. housing in guaranteed for incoming freshmen. BU isnt that grimey nor ghetto enough to leave you hangin. and yeah, def dont expect to make tons of friends with ppl from warren and west...but you will make friends nonetheless. that is all for now.
