How did you do it? share your secrets!!

my big secret is- get the answers right- but dont tell anyone

Umm...I slept, got up, took the test (make sure you keep a steady pace and pay attention, bring a snack for the break, and stay calm), and got the score online and then in the mail.
I also crammed for 5 hours the night before, but I doubt if it helped significantly. Take practice tests if possible, but practicing like that is much mroe beneficial on the ACT. If you're borderline 2100, or just plain nervous, taking a class can help.

my first "group" tutoring class starts this saturday in NY. honestly, i have no clue what i should do to do well on the SAT.

btw, how is the SAT as compared to the PSAT? difficulty wise?

Not everyone who does well has a special strategy. Some people are just smart.

Which is actually the purpose of the SAT, to measure intelligence. (I know it's less than accurate)

Personally, I have no secrets. I did the Question of the Day for about a year, took one practice test, and then did the real thing. Probably the best advice I can give is to take as many practice tests you have the time and inclination for, and fix what you do wrong.

you have to either be naturally smart and/or have a good education.

my guess is..

that people who are naturally smart (like myself), usually score 2200+

but then there are those people who aren't geniuses, but go to a very good school, they usually score 2100+.

and then there are the people who are naturally smart AND go to a really good school.....those people usually score 2300+, some 2400's.

however, there is no evidence for this at all......just a guess.

^^ A guess indeed.

Age, race, or gender do not determine your success on the SAT. It's generally about how well you know the test, and how well you know the design/intent of testmakers. It's an extremely easy test with enough time/preparation. Don't let anyone on this board discourage you, because anyone can ace the test if you really want it.

That being said, get off this lame forum and hit the books before it's too late. Things will get easier, trust me.

hey thanks a lot for your encouragement! i'm gonna try hard
