For those of you who were accepted...

For those of you who were accepted ED to Cornell, I'm not sure about all of you but I personally have hit senioritus to the maximum. And as I'm sure many of you know, Cornell requests mid-year grades. I was wondering if any of you guys know what types of grades you need to maintain without getting your admission offer dropped. I am thinking for the mid year I will have around 4 B+'s and 1-2 A's(yeah senioritus hit me hard). Is this fine? How low can you go before they rescind your application?

Thanks.

they don’t care if you get B’s at all.

You are fine as long as you don’t start getting C’s or worse. If you had straight A’s throughout high school and suddenly started getting all B’s, they might know you’re slacking but it is highly unlikely they would rescind you for that. So yeah, avoid C’s or anything lower than that.

How about a C or two? haha

One or two C’s max shouldn’t hurt you too bad, as long as the rest of your application was pretty strong (if your academics were kinda weak to begin with, it’s more damning). Just don’t go and get straight C’s.

I can’t remember if my midterm grades from senior year were listed on my transcript or not, but for what its worth, I failed a midterm and came out all right (got a B in the class that marking period).

Do ED students need to turn in a mid year report if they are accepted?

I heard ED applicants only need to send an end of the year report, no mid year report

Some people say you need to turn in a midyear report but some other people are saying you dont need to.

i’m pretty sure its just end of year.

Haha - y’all are being trolled. There’s no way anyone would seriously ask if admissions to any school would be revoked for getting B+'s and A’s. On the other hand, I should never assume too much on this site.

So do we have to send the midyear report???

I think your guidance counselor will send the report and you shouldn’t have to do anything. You really have to mess up senior year to actually be worried/rescinded. But if you get a few C’s, expect the very uncomfortable letter reminding you that your acceptance was conditional on performing at a high level your senior year. Certainly not a good way to start your college career. Further, people overestimate their ability to “flip the switch” and become a dedicated student again. Senioritis often carries over to first semester freshman year, especially with the new levels of freedom most students have never had before.

I got an F on my last semester for geography and a myriad of other low grades; I’m currently doing quite well in Engineering here.

I’m quite embarrassed to type this up, but I remember being extremely anxious the summer before attending. I would have died for someone who’s been in a similar situation to speak out about their experience. Alas, I didn’t get rescinded and I hope my humbling experience can sooth everyone’s worries.
