For those of you who were accepted...

This is my first time posting a messege so sorry if I do it wrong...

I applied early action and was rejected, and although I knew my chances were not great, I was still hoping for at least a deferrel. Anyway, I have very low SAT scores for Yale (M710 V620) and SATII (MIC720 Wr670 Lit590)...Does that automatically kill my chances at an ivy league?

Other than my test scores, I have had a 4.0 throughout high school and currently, but our school doesn't offer that many AP courses -- so the classes have been all honors except AP Language (4) last year and this year AP Lit, AP Bio, AP Calc BC. So while I have not taken the hardest AP courses, I have taken the hardest possible course schedule and rank in the top 1-2% of my class (of about 400). I still feel good about my essays.

Here is my application question -- I am very involved in the school and extracurriculars... President of NHS, Secretary and Committee Chair of Student Senate, President of Young Women For Change (foundation in community), I play guitar in an all girl band, 3yr V in soccer (including all-state) and 1yr V in tennis and basketball, etc.... but on my application all I did was list these accomplishments and didn't go into all of the community service that I have done specifically (such as blood drives, elderly, bigger projects)....should I have? For those of you who got in, what kind of detail did you go into on this section?

I never posted because I thought it silly how everybody just listed off their credentials and here I am being hypicritical. But I have some applications to fill out now over break and would love to have some help on them. And anybody else who has questions about filling out the applications post them here because I probably share your confusion.

(Sorry about the spelling but I'm awful without spell check...)

SAT scores seem to have nothing to do with whether you're accepted or not, from my own experience. So I don't know what to say. Probably just (un?)luck.

yea you definitely should include details about your community service. whatever you don't tell them, they won't be able to use to evaluate your app. If you can send recommendation letters from ppl who you worked with in your community service, all the better.
