How did you plan out your lower division courses within six quarters? I'd assume the math series is taken in the first year while the physics series is taken in the second year. How do you divvy up the chem and life science series in the best way possible without overloading?

Its really not bad. Here's a hint - you don't have to finish the whole life science core within 6 quarters. You will be able to start your upper divs without having finished all those lower div classes. Just as long as you plan on being almost done (having maybe 3-4 of those core classes left) by the end of your second year, its all good.

thanks icarus

whew, that really sounds a whole lot less daunting

if you're smart, you'll balance them all out. one chem, one math, and one GE the first quarter, one chem one math one GE one chem lab 2nd quarter, one math one chem one life science 3rd quarter

and then 2nd year you'll take chem phsyics and life science each quarter and finish up your lower div sciences in 2 years and hammer out your GEs at a community college (take two a summer) and then start hammering out your upper div core classes and science electives 3rd and 4th quarter.

if it sounds like a pain in the neck, its because it is. have fun ;)

yeap thats how it is usually. althoough i heard that GEs can't be transfered from CC (must be from 4 yr university)?

"You may attend a community college summer session after you become a UCLA student. You will receive only unit credit for summer session coursework taken; grades earned during summer session at an institution other than a UC campus are not computed in your grade point average...Units earned may satisfy subject requirements (general education/preparation for the major)"

Of course you can transfer GEs from CC's...thank god too, since its so much easier and saves you the hassle of taking it at LA.

GEs = CC
Core Classes (science electives) = a UC (one nearest you)

if you decide to take core, major classes or science electives during the summer, make sure to take them at a 4 year university so that you get a letter grade and so that it counts towards your GPA and all that jazz. I'd suggest the UC nearest you (UCI for me), since you wont have any problems transfering the class over to LA.

oh thanks. heh.
