how do you remove your retainer? do you take it off by pulling down the front hooks of the wire? or are suppose to pull it down by grabbing the back hooks?

hahaha this is random... i push up with my thumbs on the middle then pull down with my pointer fingers on the front hooks... hope that helps lol =)

Does it matter?

i had a friend told me that pulling down the front hooks bends the retainer. my ortho is out of town so i can't get a hold of him.

i know its random but i just want to be sure haha. thanks keddy

i pulled it down by the front hooks, but my retainer broke for a different reason...

lol how did you break it?

umm...let's just say a person of my size (over 120 lbs.) should definitely not step on/roll over his/her retainer multiple times... and now, my teeth are kinda crooked cuz i haven't worn my (broken) retainers since freshman year; i think i'll buy a new pair before next school year...

thats not a good look

i been pulling it down the front hooks with my pointing fingers the whole time so i guess i'm doing it right if others are doing it. i bent my last retainer somehow so i'm just worried i might do it again

Mine said to do it by pushing down on the front loops (mine has two little loops of wire that go over my eye teeth).

Just push down on the front loops. And by the way, if you take it off when you eat lunch in the cafeteria, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT put it on the tray. You will throw it out and end up having to dig through a full can of trash on a hot summer day (as did I last year). Not good stuff.

oh, how this brings back memories (and opens up old wounds...lol).

i dont feel the need to create a whole new thread for this but i got a question haha probably you science majors can answer this for me.

can alcohol melt or damage the plastic off my retainer?

Been drinking, have we?
