For those waitlisted

What should we do to increase our chances of being taken off the list? How many are waitlisted and how many of those gain admission?

I am sure that there are many people who are waiting for a response. Anytime now...

Come on! anyone willing to reply

Getting off the waitlist is not something you should expect, honestly. Some years no waitlistees are given admission, other years 5 to 50 are. No one knows. There isn't much at all you can do except wait. The admissions committee may already have a candidate in mind from a wait list before evaluating all applications again.

Thanks for your thoughtful response. I appreciate it. Have a good day.

Does anyone know the actual percentage of people that get off the waitlist? Hopeless?.. I would like to pursue it, unless it's a waste of my time.

i do know that this year, they kept the admission rate lower than usual to prevent housing problems like last year (higher matriculation than expected).

they plan to fill the class up to the usual 2400 with waitlisters if need-be. so you guys may be in more luck this year.

crosses fingers for all of those who deserve admittance

I think if you are waitlisted, you should sending in a letter reaffirming your interests and update them with any major achievement you have and hope for the best.

Don't do nothing. Definitely send a letter, maybe even write a new essay or additional recs and update your regional rep with any new awards or accomplishment. Some reps were really helpful when ppl called and gave them specific details of what might help them. There was a deferral reversal thread about this for the deferred people from the ED round, u can search for it.
