How much space does the Columbia app give for writing your ecs and describing them? What is the max word/chracter?

Thanks.

Please somebody help!

Honestly, I just remember being frustrated at Columbia's character limit as opposed to better applications (like Princeton's for example). Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to review applications at such at late date. If this helps, I know I was able to put Cross Country, Track, Gospel Choir, Biology/Chemistry Team, Anime Club and Chess Club at least.

Not a lot, about space for 6/7 (but also they ask for your outside school activities so you can fit in another 3 there). There's an additional information page where you can attach stuff but I get the feeling they are not too keen on too much additional info to be honest. Just pick your top things and stick them down - everyone else is in the same boat.

Stop worrying about such tiny details. They don't give plenty of space - but I think it's enough if you can get down to the gist of it.

I think for mine I put down all of my most important activities/hobbies and then if one had a really esoteric name that would make the adcoms go "***?" I attached an additional page with like 3-4 items and 1-2 awards with a brief paragraph (2-3 sentences) explaining my committment, accomplishments, and what that activity is exactly.

My regional adcom at least said it's okay to use the additional page to clarify what you wrote earlier in the application. Just don't use it to make a huge laundry list of stuff.

My resume is one page, there is no way I can fit them in one line. See, I have a passion for philosophy and I have written over 12 peer-reviewed journals. I have also founded outside school organizations, where I need to detail my leadership.

LOL it's impossible to fit all that in 6-7 lines :(

Do they allow you to attach a resume online with the application?

Thanks everyone for your help :)

Can anyone help me with post #7? Thanks!

Email admissions; your regional rep preferrably.

on the last section of the online app, you can upload a file with exta information. i put my EC list on that page.

lots for school related, notsomuch for outside of school

Perusing through the ED/RD 2011 threads, I noticed that a lot of applicants wrote extensively about their ECs. However, with a copy of the app myself, I don't see enough space to completely explain their activities. Unless they submitted a supplement (the resum
