For those who are considered for scholarships, did you guys have an interview?

I meant the regular applicant interview not the scholarship interview

No and I've never actually been to USC

My D, who received a Trustee last year, did not have the applicant interview even though we live within an hour from USC.

I received a Trustee a few years ago, and I had my applicant interview a month or so before applying. :)

for those who didn't get an interview, was there an interviewer available in your area? sry for all the questions, I'm just curious. how much does usc care about "demonstrated interest"?

I visited one of the preview days at USC, but never interviewed with USC, despite living 20 minutes away (definitely near enough for an interview to be nearby). I got the Trustee scholarship.

Same exactly for my S as Nikara--even live in the same area I think. No interview before acceptance but he got scholarship, too.

That said, it may be their intent to use the merit awards to lure certain students to seriously consider and attend USC--so the lack of early interview may not have been a deterrent in that case. However, I have never heard anyone suggest that demonstrating interest had a part in USC's decisions. Many many Trojan families (many who contribute $$ regularly) show fervent interest in having sons and daughters attend, but a large portion are still turned down.
