They are correct, unfortunately for me.
That's right, as a senior with 800M, 710V, 730Wr, I have to admit that desite my SAT scores I got rejected from Brown, Tufts (?!), NYU (?!), waitlisted at BC, BU (?!), and accepted to Brandeis and UMass Amherst. Yes, I did take all honors + AP classes. I had some EC's and a touchy-feely essay. And I am an immigrant so English is m second language. But because I did not study too hard and was a B student instead of A student they decided not to take me. And the stuff mentioned above did not save me. To tell you the truth I was outraged at some of the responses, but then I realized that one reaps what he sows. So the moral is: pay attention in class, do your homework, study for regular tests... and the good SAT scores will come to you.

Vlad, you have learned great wisdom. Getting into Brandeis is nothing to be ashamed of. It is a very good college, as is UMass, even though it doesn't have the prestige "name".

Grades always matter more than scores. But scores matter more than everything else besides grades.

My counselor said that while a high SAT score won't alone get you into the college that you want to go to, a low SAT score will likely keep you out. You should always study for the SAT like any other test because it is still the most important test in high school (her words).

by writing, u mean SAT II Writing??

I used to live in Waltham! Brandeis is a good school. Waltham is a good city. It has a nice library and a nice public transport system.

In the end, what means the most is your fit with the school. So it's not like you aren't smart enough or anything.
