For those who did JSA Summer School...

...did any of you have trouble on the AP test? I'm considering taking AP classes at the JSA Summer School this year in Stanford, and was contemplating taking AP classes. However, I thought it would be hard to pass the AP test, considering it is 10 months later.

What are your thoughts/experiences/opinions?

HA I applied for the Stanford on this year to! but I dont know I just wanted to say that LOL

I attended the jsa summer school at Georgetown and I don't anticipate having any trouble taking it because I have all of my class notes and I remember most of the material.

Go, you will love it!

It was a great experience. I did JSA Yale, but I took Legal Advocacy and Constitutional Law. Just make sure to look over your material and some AP Tutorial to see if there was any subjects that were not covered in great detail and I think you should be fine.

I did AP Government and Politics at Stanford last summer and I plan on taking the AP test in May...I'm not really worried about it. The professors were excellent and I feel very well prepared.
I'll probably look over my notes in the weeks before the test...but other than that, I'm not going to stress over it.

So those of you who did this, is this a highly competetive program to get into? It seems weird that they have rolling admissions. My son (a current sophmore) is considering doing the Georgetown one the year going into his senior year. Just wondering what the acceptance rate is. Is it comparative to applying to college?

It's a pretty decent program, though clearly it's still a pay-to-attend (>5000$ !!!!?!) program. If you're son isn't dumb and gets grades over a 3.0 or so he will easily get in, no question

I don't think its "clearly" a pay-to-attend program. Many of the students that I were with were, already, quite accomplished. It may have been the pool of students that I was with or the fact that Yale was the smallest out of the four branches, but JSA is not a walk in the park. It is quite rigorous, at least, from my experience.

I saw your post from a couple of years ago. My daughter just returned from Stanford where she took AP Gov. Now she doesn’t know if she should take the test in May. What did you decide to do and how did you do if youdid take the test?
