For those who didn't make it

What were your stats?

Sorry you didn't get in. It sucks!

UF GPA- 4.0
SAT- 1340

definitely calling off of adm, today, im so angry that people with below 1200 sats and below 4.0 uf gpas got in

Yeah, that really sucks. Were you in or out of state?

in state too ARGH!!! *** is up with admissions at UF!

it doesnt say rejected or deferred. only not accepted.

anyways

1270 sat
dont know my uf gpa but high school weighted is 4.57
500+ community hours. 2 job experiences. phi beta chi and nths

satscholar and dvm you two should most definitely appeal..because with your stats it seriously does not make sense that you were rejected, a friend of mine last year drove up here all the way from ft. myers and demanded to speak to someone in the admissions office before she even began the whole formal appeal process...and after speaking to about three different people..they agreed to re-evaluate her application and two weeks later she was in...

i feel that way too, but i dont think i can drive all the way up there, does anyone know the whole appeal process? should i call the office of admissions first and ask them about.....what?

would it be a good idea to go up there and try to speak to someone? ive been to gainesville many times and am kinda familiar with the area so it wouldnt be a problem. my cuzin got in by appealing. i feel as tho ive been robbed. i thought for sure IB would be the kick in the door. and now i feel as if ive wasted four years in IB for nothing.

what was the appeal process exactly? does anyone know?

@gator12

kolom talked about my college essay arrogance, sorry if it alarmed some of you

My condolences to those of you who did not get admitted. Please remember that you have a great future in front of you and that you will have an amazing life -- someday, the UF rejection will fade into insignificance.

In the meantime, I know how painful it is. My DS was rejected last year. Been there, done that. It was pretty miserable for a while.

It IS possible to appeal, but rarely successful. The guidelines for an appeal require that you show significantly new information or identify an error (such as a mistake on your transcript or test scores, etc.) Appealing requires a great deal of time and energy and should not be undertaken unless you feel you have very strong grounds for appeal. You will also need support from your school guidance counselor. You would have to begin with a call to the admissions office, where you will need to (calmly and respectfully) speak to an admissions officer about your situation. You should wait a few days to do this -- the phones will be overwhelmed on Monday and Tuesday. If you do appeal, it takes a long time to get an answer, which means you will be waiting, perhaps until May, to know if you are successful. Chances are very, very low that you will get a yes. Meanwhile, your life is on hold.

Good luck to all of you -- looking at your stats, I can see that you all have a great deal to offer the world. There is a school somewhere else that I am sure will want you very badly!

thanks for the excellent insight orchid, i will definitely keep that in mind

Best of luck to you!!! :-)
