For Those Who Have Ucb But Will Go To UCLA

"For all the ppl who got in both UCB and UCLA, please give me your STRONGEST argument why you choose UCLA or UCB?"

This probably won't convince you but it's great for me.

1) I'm more a fan of Cal football than Bruin football. I was usually either a Trojan or a Golden Bear playing "ncaa football '99"

2)I've live in Socal all my life, I want a change.

3)Berkeleys political activism attracts me.

3 reasons why some are so adamant about UCB and others about UCLA, if you have a strong aversion to activism, live in northern cal, and love UCLA football...then you might reach a different conculsion. Academic wise I think is a non-issue as both are top public schools.

"if you have a strong aversion to activism, live in northern cal, and love UCLA football."

UCLA has activism as well. If someone really has an aversion to it, they should go to UCSD. If someone is really into it, they should go to Santa Cruz.

I finaly decided to sacrifies UCB and go to UCLA, who is next...

I probably see you there at UCLA haybaxt... but I'm still open my minds for ppl' opinions or ideas; of course I'm still the only one who will make the final decision...

to all members, hey I really appreciate reading your arguments...
Anyone else who got in UCB and UCLA, please build your STRONGEST argument why you choose either UCLA or UCB!

^^^^^^ you made the right decision my friend....see you this fall in UCLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haybaxt, what were your reasons? It'll be helpful for some of us.

kevin101-have you been to both?

I haven't made my final decision yet... i and one friend who also has similar situation (we both got in USC, UCLA and UCB) we both visit USC open house once, and now we both plan to visit UCB.
By the way, I receive a phone call that UCB has some kinds of receptions in Southern California on May 12 or May 13 something like that. Anyone receives that message too?

The primary reason is that to my strong belief it would be extremely difficult to maintain high GPA, 3.9ish in UCB. Prestige is good, but my final goal is to get to the best possible law school. At UCLA I'll get the same knowledge as I would in UCB, plus I'll have more favorable GPA. After factoring all pluses and minuses I decided that at this time UCLA would work for me better than UCB.

^^ haybaxt...that's not entirely true...GPA depends on you, your dilligence and professor. I don't think UCLA is necessarily "easier" than Cal....don't be afraid of being challenged. I have one friend who is dead set against going to UCLA because he thinks it will be too difficult for him to maintain a good GPA to get into pharmacy school. Instead he is going to UCSD.....which he is falsely assuming to be easier. My point is to weigh all the factors before doing the SIR. I don't think it's a good idea to pick a college based on its difficulty level.

"By the way, I receive a phone call that UCB has some kinds of receptions in Southern California on May 12 or May 13 something like that. Anyone receives that message too?"

No, I haven't! Any details??

I am not against taking challenging classes. I guess you missed my point. UCLA and UCB are both great schools, but UCB has traditionally been more demanding than UCLA in terms of GPA.
I am against going to a school only based on ranking, one should take into consideration all the factors, including ones that are strictly individual....
