For those who haven't heard anything...

I don't suppose we are rejected right? I mean, theoretically there should be way more acceptances - ie reflected through the threads right? -
There are too few acceptances here to represent all those who are accepted right (even though CC only represents a percentage of applicants) ? - or am I just trying to make myself feel less anxious?? @_@

Yep, I agree.

Indeed. We’ve got people in top 2% / 2300+ SATs not having heard anything. I’d hope that means there are acceptances left.

I too think there are many acceptances left to be sent out/received, but I don’t think its because of the top 2%/2300+ on numbers.

CMU is known for looking past standardized test scores/GPAs on their decisions and looking for people that are leaders, creative, meld science and arts, etc. This quote explains some of that with this year in reference specifically:

CMU, at orientation every year, brags about how many 1600’s/4.0+'s that they rejected, not how many they admitted.

So yeah, more acceptances are coming, but don’t think that the SAT scores are going to determine them.

Do you guys think my 700 on SAT math and 680 on SAT-II math 2 will keep me out of Electrical Engineering? I seriously have a sinking feeling after getting rejections from Northwestern and MIT…

No, I dont think they care once you get past a certain SAT score.

I got into CMU ECE with a 520 MathII score, which means they obviously look at other things. Also, I must note that on my decision page, that score was omitted for my MathI score of 590. Physics was 550, and I had a 620 on the regular Math SAT.

Im thinking its more about personality after that certain point, and the SATII scores in particular are more of a tiebreaker. I got in with those scores, but I had a lot of non-academic related leadership stuff on my app, and I took an art class every year, and one at a college. I also had some artwork that they saw. And no, I didnt win any international awards.
But I spent a month on my essays.

If it makes you feel any better I had a 690 Math and 730 Math2 (but a 34 ACT math so take that as you will).

I should never have taken the SAT…

I have 30 on ACT math :/

Man I really hope were not all screwed…

lol. I’ve been reading the forums just to get the 411 on what’s going on with CMU. I can’t help but get the air of people freaking out. Go put some Bob Marley on and just chill “because every little thing is gonna be alright”

I have a 2330 SAT, reasonably high gpa, and my ECs/essays are geared towards combining Computer Science and arts. I have not heard anything (though I assume it will be posted at 12 tonight, 4 days after the last mailing day). It seems like there may be more rejections in the later waves but it’s unlikely that they are exclusively rejections. CC represents a monumentally small portion of the applicant pool. I can only hope that I’m part of that small percentage of acceptances in the last wave (if there are any at all…).

just wondering if anyone from the first wave actually got a merit-based scholarship.

Being optimistic here the regular acceptees (w/o merit-based scholarship) got their decisions first. The acceptees who are currently under debate to see who gets the scholarship will be part of the later waves along with the rejected or waitlisted.

I m pretty sure that this is not the case, can anyone confirm/disprove this theory with last year’s decisions?

I’m thinking all of the people in the first wave have at least one thing in common. I just don’t know what that one thing is. =/

They were probably all sure things.

One thing I noticed within all the first-waves was that most were CIT? Not very many HSS… and HSS accepts the greatest number of applicants if I’m not mistaken. Perhaps they are releasing them college by college-- at least for the majority of decisions. What do you guys think?

I applied to HSS, and in my “Admissions Documents Sent” there hasn’t been anything mailed since the viewbook. Does anyone have this? I’m kind of worried right now…

arpeggia: I’m in the same place as you are. It’s good knowing I’m not alone. @___@ Though I applied for MCS first, and HSS second.

Don’t worry about that. My admissions documents were sent on 2/20 according to the where am i in the process site and I got my Fat letter in the mail on 3/25. My decision was available online on the 24th so I’m not sure what the admissions documents mean. It totally doesn’t take a month to get something from pittsburgh to nyc
