for those who took/are taking APUSH

How should I prepare for the AP test? Should I start with the most recent material moving backwards, or should I do it in chronological order?

Chronological order, definitely. It will be much less confusing than working backwards. A technique that helped me a little was to memorize the presidents (daunting, yes) and try to frame my knowledge of US history around their terms. For example if you were trying to remember what happened in 1935, you would think “FDR year… oh yeah FDR, New Deal, I remember now…” Etc. Go through your notes, if there are any historical periods you’re a little fuzzy on you may want to reread or at least skim those chapters in your text book.
