so... im currently registered to math 1a. but i think im just going to skip to the 53/54 series using my 5 in AP Calc BC.

but the deal is, its been 4 years since i took calculus (i was in the military for few years)... and im not sure how im going to prepare myself for math 54. what specific topics in calculus should i review to prepare myself for math 54?

there’s not much calculus in math 54 apart from differential equations (math 1b), so just review and make sure you can solve basic problems

You should be fine. If you forgot anything, you should be able to easily review the material.

Yeah, you don’t need much calculus. Just review what you need when you need it.

You won’t really even need to review calculus for the DifEq bit.

You may want to bone up a bit on partial derivatives (which you may not have learned yet, but they’re pretty easy to understand), but given that a lot of people take 54 before 53 anyway (useful, since it gives you a better understanding of vectors and should make some parts of 53 a lot easier), you’ll be fine.

I thought partial derivatives was calc 3, no? Anyway, he’s right, I just looked it up and it is very simple to learn.

Partials are covered in 53.
