For transfer application got a D on fall semester..

I was accepted to ucd for fall 2018 as a transfer student but then didn’t go, decided to reapply for fall 2019. my gpa was barely 2.8 but I still managed to get in for fall 2018. My gpa is a bit higher than before but it’s still lower than 3.0 so I know I am not the strong candidate. I was taking one of my major class for fall 2018 (3 unit ochem lecture. lab I got A from summer session) and got a D because I messed up my finals that was 40% of my total grade. Are they automatically going to reject me? I did get rejected from UCR… one of my classmate has even lower gpa than I do but he got into UCR so I am just concerned should I not expect acceptance letter from UCD at all? UCD is my only choice I just applied to couple other UCs because I had the option to apply to 4 UCs so… I heard something about over enrollment from Fall 2018 is it affecting everyone for fall 2019 as well?

You should contact the school to get the best feedback.

It sounds like you got in through TAG because that’s all that UCD has released. With the D, the TAG 100% will be revoked and you’ll move into the general pool. It’s up to them but my gut instinct is you will not gain admission.They don’t like seeing Ds.

You should tell them ASAP because if there’s any chance for sympathy, the earlier you alert them, the better.

@Ohm888 my understanding is that @cokkiewidcat is saying they got in for Fall 2018 not for this fall, but didn’t go, reapplied this year, and are waiting for decision for Fall 2019 - and are wondering if the D they got last semester will definitely result in rejection.

@CAtransplant ah, thanks for clarification!

Sure no problem! So @Ohm888 what do you think the answer to the OP’s question is - will the D make the applicant be rejected automatically?

I really can’t say. All I know is they really don’t like Ds.
