Is it difficult to get cast for a talking role or main role in a TACIT theater production? I'd say I'm an inexperienced actor but a pretty good one overall I guess. I'm wondering if I should audition or pursue some other extracurriculars. I don't want to end up as a grip or put myself in a difficult position to drop out. Also, I assume theater at Caltech is not as time-consuming as most high school and community theaters right? Thanks!

Honestly, it’s not difficult at all to get cast for a talking role (usually everyone who wants one will get at least a small one). Main roles are slightly more difficult, but not impossible- it really depends on how well you fit with the particular show for the term. I would generally say that caltech theater is less time consuming that most other theater, maybe 2 to 6 hours a week, although the last week before the show is similar to most other theater in being particularly time consuming. You should totally audition!
